CAYA Homework Cafe

The Homework Cafe consists of reserved quiet space for students to get homework completed, with tutors available to assist the students. The Cafe is open, Monday through Thursday, 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Special Academic Hour

• Spelling Power - Occurs weekly. Students are given 20-30 vocabulary words and definitions. Different techniques are used to encourage kids to memorize, understand, spell and use the words in sentences.
• Creative Writing - Occurs weekly. This program has been designed to challenge students to use their thinking power and put their thoughts on paper in an orderly manner. This program also allows them to share things on their minds and just to express themselves. Ultimately through this program their writing skills should improve.
• Reading- A special program is being designed for CAYA students, which will be availabe in October. With this program we'll be able to evaluate each students' current reading level so we'll be able to support getting them to the level they should be. It's our goal to make reading fun and adventurous for all students.
